Do you think a corsair 850 is enough for sli 980 super clocked acx 2.0. Aswell an intel 5960x? Or should i go for 1200w

Solution
Yes. More than enough. Each 980 will use about 200 watts each. The 5960x has a TDP of 140. Ballpark just under 600 watts. Lots of room left over.

What Corsair 850? The HX? AX?
This is enough.

That'll be sufficient, even with overclocking. Though I don't personally like corsair for power supplies, even their upper end ones. I'd look to Antec or Rosewill at this level. Seasonic as well, but I prefer them for their lower wattage flexibility.

I like this currently, for it's cable management as well as price. Priced low due to being a new release still. Great value

looking at the HX

The thing about Corsair is the bad rep from the CX and RM series. The TX is a solid series while the HX and AX are stellar, efficient and reliable products. It's just hard to recommend them because there's a "clause" or "if" that comes with the name. So people don't recommend them. There are cheaper just as good alternatives but hey that's personal preference.

meant AX, my bad

Yep. TX V1 were below average. I have a TX V2 in an 6 year old PC right now. Still running strong.
