I was wondering what would be a sufficient PSU for a rig with a GTX 580, an i5 2500k (may OC), and an EVGA P67 SLI MicroATX MoBo. I am looking for a Silverstone PSU. I do not plan on going SLI anytime soon. I am wondering if a 500W PSU would be enough. If not, would a 600W PSU be enough?

Shows a system with an i7-970 (much more power hungry than a Sandy Bridge i5) using 344W at the wall under Furmark. Taking efficiency into account their system was probably actually drawing 300W. A 300W load would only stress a 500W PSU to ~60%.

However there is a chance that the numbers for the GTX 580 are unrealistically low because of Nvidia's Furmark throttling 'feature' which prevents it from being 'overloaded'. So maybe the numbers for the GTX 480 would be more accurate as a maximum load for the GTX 580. In which case it would be a 400W load, so you would be better off with a good 600W PSU.

Nothing wrong with Silverstone PSUs. Can't say I can remember reading a negative review for one.
