Hi, i want to upgrade to a AMD R9 280x or equivalent.

My PSU is a OCZ ZT 750W.

My Current set-up is:-

Intel i7 920 @ 4ghz (over clocked)
6gb Ram
SSD 120gb + 500gb 7200RPM HDD
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate
Razer DeathAdder 3.5g
SteelSeries Siberia v2 Frost

Is my PSU enough to power the GPU with this setup?

i did the asus PSU wattage calculator and it said i would need a 850w. But i thought i would ask here due to the knowledge of others are usually different. :)

Thanks

Joe

Solution
Power consumption AMD Radeon R9-280X
1.System in IDLE = 119W
2.System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 350W
3.Difference (GPU load) = 231W
4.Add average IDLE wattage ~10W
5.Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 241 Watts

So with other components you have a 750W PSU should be sufficient.

•AMD R9 280X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
•AMD R9 280X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

Note : You have a TIER 2 Brand PSU so its good enough to run. Info here :

Solution

I realise my wording was wrong for the question in asking. "Powerful enough" maybe instead?
Cheers

Thanks for the reply, very informative. Had a 2 other people say something similar to me about my 750w being sufficient.

Good to know, Thanks :)

My answer would have been the same. Never too much wattage.
