Well .. recently my semi modular thermaltake 530w psu died after 3.5 years of service . I'm stuck with a ms tech 450w psu .I recently sold my 750ti to buy a refurbished rx 470 8gb (or 580 8gb but lmao not going to happen with that psu) .will underclocking the gpu be enough to play some damn games (i had to play like a year because I was really concentrated to pass to a uni and like I'll upgrade the psu after Christmas bcz I'm living with a strict uni student budget )

I wouldn’t use that PSU for ANYTHING, let alone put a newly purchased GPU with it. That PSU was a piece of crap when new, now it’ll do well if you need a paper weight. If your goal is to burn your computer up for an insurance claim, it will likely do the job.

As I said it's something temporary .Just for 30 days max untill I have some money to buy a new good one.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/323963555553 just get this EVGA powersupply or something and use it for a while. I bought a 1300w supernova for 30$ was basically brand new have been using it for a year now no issues.
An old, used and mediocre quality PSU is not a good solution either. $5 more would get the OP a new CX450 which is a much better option as it will have warranty and quality wise the CX is better than an on supernova nex.

btw I wrote this but it was never posted .The old thermaltake kinda posts when I do the pins trick. But when I touched the cpu cable it was hot af .I gave it to a frend of mine that studies as a computer technician (his teacher is more than willing to help a fellow uni student for free ,even if I'm studying to be a nurse)

Unfortunately, the PSU linked is quite frightening. It doesn't become any safer because it's cheap; physics doesn't take into account people's financial situations!

If you do decide to use something like this, no gaming. This is something you do because you have to get schoolwork done and you have no other option, not in order to start firing up Call of Duty or Overwatch. I wouldn't want to put any load on a GPU at all. You don't have integrated graphics; if you kill your GPU, you don't have a PC until you get a new GPU.

I kinda just wanted to download stuff and play sth like krunker untill I change the psu (a browser fast paced fps ,kinda fun and like it run with potatoes .)
