[SOLVED] PSU making awful noise

a few days ago, i noticed my PC making a real weird noise during a chkdsk. i thought it was my hdd but it is coming from my psu. it sounds like a dog whistle mixed with a 3D printer. please help!

I suggest that if your finding a psu getting faulty then stop using it and take it to an repair shop and find out what making the sounds because you never know what the PSU might do next.

the sound appears to only happen at the chkdsk screen too, so i dont know if its my hard drive or psu

One thing to keep in mind: i did smack my desk pretty hard a few days ago...

Get a backup of your data/files on the drive just in case.

Check the SMART status of the drive with a utility like HD Sentinel or CrystalDiskInfo to see if it's healthy.
