[SOLVED] PSU making static sound

Today what I think is my PSU but may be the GPU suddenly started making a electrical crackling/static consistent noise as soon as the power is turned on, is it something I can fix or safe to leave?

Looks like some junk PSU. What's the brand and model?

The model label is hidden on the inside of the case so I’ll have to remove it to get a look at that but it’s a 500w cooler master with an AMD FX 6300 and a GTX 970, the pc has been running just fine since 2015.

The cheapest 500w Coolermaster like B500 or Extreme Power Plus. 7 years is a very long time for such low quality PSU. Time to replace it.

Bummer, does using it in my computer for a short while until I get a new one have a chance of damaging anything?

If the PSU fails in that time it can damage some parts in the system. However it depends on what part of the PSU fails.
