My power supply, EVGA G2 850W 80Gold, is missing some pins inside the motherboard cable socket. My cable is 24 pin on one side, and 18+10 pin on the power supply side.

The 24 pin socket is missing one pin. The 18+10 pin socket (18 pin side) is missing 2 pins. Is this normal? Is it normal for one side and not the other? Also, is it normal that it's not 24 pin to 24 pin?

Working on building first PC. Was given this lightly used power supply by a friend. He said it works. These sockets are just tripping me up.

Thanks.

And the 24 pin to 18+10 pin is normal?

And if so, whats the best way to tell which sockets to use for the paper clip test? Some of the guides I have found call out color coded wires. All of my wires are black.

Thanks a bunch.

Yes it is I own that PSU. It's normal.

Glad to help.
