Hi, recently i have been hearing a loud pitching noise coming from my PSU, the problem is that i cant really locate the source of the problem whether its coming from the fan or the psu itself.
Now i know i will replace the PSU eventually but the problem is that i cant do it at the moment.
The sound i like the one shown in the video but faster, its really annoying but i cant hear it with the headphones on.

If its a fan problem, i can hold this problem for a few more days pheraps a week without too much worry?
Thank you for your attention, im looking forward to hearing a reply from you guys.

Solution

Heat is the enemy of your computer perhaps adding another fan may help some but if we talking about the power supply fan you need to monitor it. Your power supply could fry if it stops while your pulling a good load from your power...
I think it'd be a better idea if you could record the sound from your system instead of using another audio source as an example. That would also allow you to exercise movement of the recording device to see if the sound is actually coming from the PSU.

On another note, you didn't mention if the sound originates when the system is under load or at idle. Speaking of system's you also didn't mention your full system's specs. Please list them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

Thank you for the quick reply, the sound itself is really coming from the PSU Im 99% sure the system's specs are:
CPU: I5 4460
GPU: GTX 960 2gb
Ram: 8GB
HDD: 1Tb Seagate Barracuda
SSD: 120gb Kingston
PSU: Nox Urano vx 650w (I know its terrible)
Motherboard: ASUS H81-GAMER
Chassis: Cant really recall the name, im sorry
OS: Windows 7
At this moment i cant really give you a recording of the noise itselft, but if you really want it i will try to give record it next time, the sound is a lot like the one in the video but higher and faster. The computer itselft is a bit over 2 years old so everything is out of warranty.

EDIT: im now pretty sure that the noise is coming from the fan, when i was turning the computer off i could hear the noise slowly fadding way and changing its pitch as the fan blades got slower until it stoped. But is it still too risky to hold it like this for a weekend?

Thank you for the answer i have noticed that the sound only happens a while after the pc is turned on. Wich makes me think that its really the fan because the fan it only starts working after a while. So can i hold it like this for a week without too much worries?

Heat is the enemy of your computer perhaps adding another fan may help some but if we talking about the power supply fan you need to monitor it. Your power supply could fry if it stops while your pulling a good load from your power supply. Best to replace the power supply if it has a bad fan. If it's just a case fan those are easy to replace, so just change it.
