What PSU would be better for running my Radeon HD7770 GPU

OEM
Model DPS-460DB-5
or
Dynex 500w
Model DX-PS500w

Third option neither will work and I need a new PSU.

if your OEM power supply puts out 460W, it would be enough to power an HD 7770, and the Dynex option is also more than enough. Unless you plan on adding another graphics card in the future, you have nothing to worry about.

Ok thank you for the quick reply, I wanted to make sure. I have another thread started about my PC crashing every time I play certain games and I wanted to make sure it wasn't worth switching my PSU back to the OEM. Coming across other threads I was trying to look at the 12v rail but I have zero idea what I'm looking at on this PSU for that.

I'll play devil's advocate here. Neither. With that video card, it looks like gaming is important to you. Gaming systems are power hungry, and its likely over the next couple of years that you'll want to upgrade to keep up with the latest titles. You could be back here a year from now asking about a new PSU again. Or sooner, if one of those units fail.

Don't skimp on the power supply. Look for a 5 year warranty, at least a bronze certification. Depending on your case, if its small you might want to look at modular PSUs.
Finally do your homework, the OEM power supply is undoubtedly weak otherwise some company would be proud to put its label on there. The Dynex is also weak. Take a look at jonnyguru.com for the latest reviews on power supplies.

Just my two cents.

If your computer is crashing every time you play a demanding game, it could be a defective power supply. Just because it can boot your system and it has an adequate rated power output doesn't mean it can't have problems.

I don't think you can rule out the power supply just yet, but with the crashing only during certain games its clear the load is too much for your current system. First I would suspect overheating. Check the temps of your CPU and GPU under load.

The only reason to look at the 12V rail is to see if it has enough amps to handle your video card. With the HD 7770, I would think it is sufficient, however the power supply may be overrated in terms of how much power it can supply.

Your OEM power supply is made by Delta. They make some very good units for both OEMs like Dell and aftermarket companies like Antec.

Dynex is straight up junk. Here is a very good tier list. I'll give you a hand finding Dynex. Start in tier 5.

The Delta should be plenty of power for your HD 7770. The Dynex I would not trust to charge a battery.
