So I'm running a 750w psu and a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QZ3UG0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 with this setup:

2 monitors: Seiki 40" / Asus 27"
GPU GTX 760
CPU: I7-4970k
Ram: 16GB 1800mhz
Storage: 2 Intel 730 series SSD/external 2TB HDD
Mobo: Asus Hero VII
Audio: Cambridge DacMagic+ / Beyer T1s

So what happened was I have an Oculus rift, and my pc usually sees it as a third monitor. So I go and plug it in, turn on a new game I downloaded called AltspaceVR and 5 minutes into the game everything goes dark and the warning I get tells me my mobo killed my PC before my PSU overloaded. So my question is - could this be the game at fault or do I have too much stuff in use?

For now I removed one monitor to hopefully give my psu some breathing room, but I have no idea what I'm doing so any \advice is appreciated.

The fundamental problem to me is that you're trying to run a VR headset on a graphics card that is not nearly powerful enough to handle it. They recommend at least a GTX 970 or r9 290:

So what is probably happening is that once you start the game, it is cranking the hell out of that 760 at 100% until either the card or the PSU can't take it anymore and it crashes.

So before anything, you need a more powerful GPU that can run the headset without being pushed past its limit. Then depending on what kind of PSU you have, you may need a more reliable one to power it.

edit: that's a good PSU and should be enough wattage to handle either a 970 or a 290, so I would start with a better card for sure.

Aww wat. I've had no issues playing any other games with the headset until this one (I've played basically everything). If that's true then that really sucks lol. Don't have the $$ right now for one.

Well, it's the most likely in my opinion, but certainly there are other possibilities. I'd say just count yourself fortunate that you are able to play the games you can and enjoy them. Not EVERY game is necessarily going to push that card to its full capacity, but there are probably some that will.

Yes, I just wander around the empty personal spaces in the games so it's active I would say.
Altspace is just a hub - you can stream videos, play board games ect in a virtual space. They have an intro video somewhere. I wouldn't think it to be THAT intensive. It's kind of like Virtual Desktop
