Question Psu pins for gpu

Hey! So I bought a 2070 from Gainward the other day and a non modular psu to go with it. I'm assembling the pc right now and see there is a 8 and 6 pin connection on the gpu. But the psu has an 8 and 8 cable. Can I use it but since the cables are kinda modular as a 8 and 6 pin even tho the cables are ment to fit a 8+8.
I'm sorry if it's confusing but I'm kinda stuck here. Lemme know if you need another explanation

8pin should be disassembled into 6+2 (cause other 2 should be if im correct grounds???).

Yes! The 8 pin is disassembled. What's the other two supposed to do?

6+2 can either be connected to 6 pin or 8 pin. If 6 pin the extra two are not connected.
