PSU popped like a firecracker

So I turned on my computer like regular, it started up to the log in screen, then a loud pop happened, sounded like a firecracker. So to make sure it was my PSu, I put in an older one I had and everything still works. I am just curious if this is fixable? I do not have a warranty or anything of that sort. I took the psu apart and didn't see anything out or order, no wires loose, diodes weren't broken or noticeably damaged, actually nothing was noticeably damaged. I have a XTR XFX 750 watt. If anyone has any information it would be much appreciated!

Not only as a warning from a fellow user, but as a warning from someone who has nerve damage after attempting something similar, do not try to fix your power supply.

My instructor always told me that they were field replaceable units. When it fails, you replace it.

One day I didn't listen. I got a serious shock that left me with chest pain for almost an entire minute. Seriously, just replace it. I know a minute doesn't sound like long, but when you're in pain that feels like it's going to kill you, it seems to last for hours.

Do not take PSUs apart. First, there are no parts for you to fix it anyway, second it is dangerous as the PSU still holds power for quite a while.
Simply RMA it if possible otherwise trow it away. If your Board is still running fine then do not worry. Most Boards nowadays are equipped with dozen safety features that protect you from faulty PSUs.

I would have RMA'd it, but uh, taking it apart sorta voids the warranty. I am surprised that a XFX unit did this.
