Well I just finished building my new PC, went to start it up with just the power cable attached and when I did the PSU immediately popped with a flash and I immediately unplugged it. That being said would my PSU now be fried along other parts possibly?

I'm planning on starting the RMA on it but I'm not sure if I should do RMA anything else as I don't have a different PSU to test anything.

Here are the parts of the PC, most are new-
Psu- RM 650 brand new
Mobo- gigabyte 990fxa ud3 brand new
Cpu- and fx8320 brand new
Cooler -corsair h100i brand new
Ram- 8gb from previous PC
Case- corsair 500r brand new
I any other info is needed I will provide it. Thanks

They should be fine. Glad it wasn't the GPU, I'm not surprised RAM took a hit. About 7 years ago I had a DIMM slot go bad and it literally fry a stick: burned contacts, messed up socket etc. Mobo was ok, other ram DIMMs were ok, CPU ok; just that one stick. Strange these things called computers.
Unfortunately Corsair has had some problems with the new RM series. RMA it and if possible get your money back and put it towards a TX or HX Series Corsair, or do a little shopping and look at Seasonic, XFX, and the V series from EVGA.
I have the TX series in my grandson's PC and it has run perfectly and is a quality piece of equipment.
There is a real probablility that the "POP" was the circuit protection provisions doing their job, and that no damaging current made it into the motherboard. That mobo also has some protection circuits. I can't be positive, but your mobo might be o.k. Look it over really well, use a magnifying glass if you have one, and look for any burn marks, melted anything, or melted/burned solder; if you find any RMA that also.
Don't know where you bought it but their customer service may be able to help you simply return both items: But I think the mobo will be ok.

Thanks for the reply, Im sending it back to to amazon where I bought it and hopefully the PSU was the only casualty of the mishap.

Will they give you your $$ back or allow you to upgrade?

Yes I had the option to get a refund, get a replacement of the same PSU or exchange for something in my cart. I went ahead and got the replacement it will be here on Monday hopefully with the right results

I put the parts i originally had in my old pc back in (ram, hdd, optical drive, gpu) and upon startup all i get is a black screen. Did it fry my gpu as well?

EDIT: GPU is fine but 2 sticks of RAM are shot, time to see if G.Skills RMA is good or not.
