Im looking to upgrade to the GTX 960 G1 card but i was wondering if my PSU will be powerful enough its the ATRIX AX-500EXB, its a really basic and cheap PSU

Thanks :)

your PSU is a tier 5 unit, which means its a TERRIBLE unit. replace it with something better, which is at least a tier 3 unit, but really tier 2 units are the best.
use this thread to pick a PSU (BTW, I know I said tier 3, but avoid really cheap teir 3 units, like the corsair CX series):

anything with a good tier and that it has around 430w-500w would be good.

Solution

What about the normal GTX 960 and not the G1 one? or is there going to be no difference

No your PSU cannot handle it,
Buy yourself a decent one example: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1450sx2b9
Have 12V 34A = 408W

Your curent PSU is simply junk quality:

"Avoid IMMEDIATELY. These units are highly unsafe to use. No such protections added, very thin gauge wiring used, false advertising and too much to list. Reference to a higher tiered unit for a better, money saving and a much safer unit. For your safety's sake, please don't order or pick one up for use in your system. These units are a potential fire hazard and could even kill you, let alone your system."

Would this be a better PSU to get to run this GPU? http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-600W-Bronze-Power-Supply/dp/B00EN3FD20/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1436783616&sr=1-1&keywords=600w+psu
