PSU Question (Really Needed)

Hello everyone,

My question is can a failing PSU be the cause of having little stutters in all games along with sometimes having frame drops for like half a second?

If so how would I go around checking if my hard drive is failing as I've tried everything else and replaced every other part in my PC apart from the PSU.

well you can check your HDD by downloading a program called speecy. as far as the PSU please post all your specs here. and then i can make a better decision. i mean i use to have a problem with my psu where it would cause my screen to go black for a couple seconds. ( not enough power to the gpu). but i cant realy say unless i see what specs u have

Yes , an unstable power supply can cause these issues.

One way to test the PSU is to run OCCT and monitor voltages on the 12v rail ... if they jump around too much or get to far away from 12v that can cause havoc.

I failing PSU causes all sorts of weird problems. Truth be told it's almost impossible to pinpoint without replacing it first. Your problem could be caused by failing HDD or even a software issue.

1. Defrag the HDD.
2. Disable anything that isn't required to boot. Usually I use msconfig, service tab, check hide all ms services and disable what's left.

If ya went into a parts store and said ya needed brakes for a 2006 Ford, ya wouldn't get any

There were some thermal issues with the early versions of the RM 850 , but the issue has been fixed , the RM are decent but not great some cheap caps are used.

OK with RM series, run the OCCT GPU test ... make sure you don't run the PSU test, it's been known to kill certain PSUs
