PSU Question

Putting together a new i7 build and wanted to know if a 850W PSU would be enough running 2HD's, 2 DVD Drives, and starting out with one Video card. I would like the ability to add another video card down the line for sli.

I'm currently looking at the Corsair 850TX.

Well, depends, which gfx card are you talking about..

I haven't decided yet. Torn between a single 4870 or the 4890 and then upgrading another down the line or just going straight ahead with a 4870x2.

The Corsair 850W is enough for Crossfire

4870x2 would run on the 850tx but, a single 4870 would go 650tx and 750tx for cf.

Im not sure but, I think the 750tx could run dual 4890's aswell. just to be cautious, 850tx would be the max for it.

Should I just be safe and go with a 1000W PSU?

quad gpu 4870x2 and dual 295's/(285s mabye) would go on a 1000w+.

850tx will be fine on a single 4870x2/dual gtx 275/dual 4890/mabye dual gtx 285.
