So I was planning to get a gtx 760 but I found a r9 280 at the same price and I can't resist it (the purchase will happen at the end of this year) But I only have a seasonic s12ii 520w psu. I'm kind worried about it since I also have a fx 8350 overclocked to 4.5 ghz, a led strip and 6 fans. However, I only have a 5400RPM HD and no DVD Writer. You can see the full specs in the sig (note: ram will be upgraded to 8)
And how do you think the 280 compares to the gtx 680?

Why would it be obvious? Did I miss something?
The reason I asked, was because you said you were going to stay at 4GB of RAM. I mistakenly thought you meant VRAM and was going to say that you wouldn't need over 2GB at 1080p. But after re-reading, I see you meant system RAM. So it doesn't matter now.
Btw, I have no opinion on the PSUs. They are both OK.
It should be enough but it will be getting close. GTX 680 is marginally better than a R9 280 but both will trade blows. GTX 680 is similar to a 7970 Ghz edition which is a R9 280X. If you overclock the R9 280 it will reach the performance to the 280X. Both are good for 1080p though.

The Seasonic is a good PSU, so it should be sufficient even though it is a bit on the low side. Jonny Guru gives it a 9.7/10 score. But you won't have much overhead left. I'd consider upgrading in the future.
Power-wise, the R9-280 is going to use a lot more than the GTX 680: http://www.hwcompare.com/17680/geforce-gtx-680-vs-radeon-r9-280/
The two cards seem to be fairly evenly matched depending on the task they need to perform: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-280-vs-GeForce-GTX-680

No, not enough overhead IMO. Some light OC'ing maybe. The Seasonic has a 480W, 40A +12V rail. So it is stronger than most PSUs of that capacity. Remember, the R9-280 is a 250W TDP card. It can peak well above that during heavy loads.

Well, then, I might remain to 4gb ram (It's ok for me, maybe not for you) and get a new PSU, the cx600m or the rs650, which one do you think it's better?
Edit: I get frame drops in bf4 and gpu usage drops too (actual 650ti), do you think it has something to do with the PSU? The temps and other stuff are OK.

Okay, thanks for answeing, however my friend told me that corsair PSUs, especially CX are shit. I really doubt it's true

Corsair CX series have been know to have poor quality capacitors. Most reviews of them will usually state that. Having said that, I have one of them now in another machine; 500W. I've abused it pretty good with OC'ing and such, and with too big of gfx cards... still working fine. But you can do better for your money.
