Hello everyone

I`m aware of how many questions asked about this one but I got another question which came to my mind and i`d be happy if i can get any help about it.

after searching through the forum and finding that PSU is the problem for not being able to play a certain game like CS GO. I am having the same problem right now.

I`ve read that to understand if psu causes the problem that i should stress test gpu/cpu and after running a furmark test, pc reset after 5-10 seconds.

my question is why my pc is not reseting when i play xcom 2 or rocket league? Do csgo consume alot more power than those games?

2nd question is what psu should I get and how many watts

my specs

MSI GTX 1070
I7 6700
2 SSD 250+500 gb
CM G750M

edit: I ran a cpu stress test with prime95 and didnt reset the pc but furmark did, i also checked event logs and i saw an error kernel-power 41 (63)

Thanks in advance.

That's why I advised to check those other things. It seemed strange it would only happen with a game that if anything has low hardware requirements. I don't recall you saying what other games you were playing though. Kind of hard to imagine it being harder on your rig than the rest.

Any decent 500w PSU is enough total system power for a 1070 rig. here's a very good one...

Before assuming it's the PSU though, make sure you check that it's not something external, like an overloaded house circuit you're plugged into, bad breaker in the electrical panel, faulty surge protector (should be using one if you aren't), or even a corroded wall outlet. These kind of things can cause that type of error to happen, or even frequent summer electrical storms.

BTW, Kernel Power - Event ID 41 - Task Category 63 just designates spontaneous improper shutdowns and reboots. It does not give any indication what the cause is. It's just a warning to let the user know the system needs to be checked, as well as what it's plugged into.

It's probably a good idea to run DISM.exe and then sfc/ scannow too, to make sure you have no corrupt system files.

Also, I advise you run a Memtest86 check on your RAM, and also test RAM slots one at a time by loading just one stick in slot 1.

Before buying a psu, i did everything you said I should be looking into and after everything seemed fine, I bought a new psu, everything seems to be fine at the moment. looks like psu was dying.

but still I dont get it, how come reset happens on csgo but not in any other game, i still have this question in mind.

thanks for the help, learned alot from you.
