The specs are
CyberpowerPC Desktop Computer Gamer Ultra 227 AMD FX-Series FX-4300 (3.80GHz) 4GB DDR3 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 1GB Windows 10 Home 64-bit
My current PSU is Venus Power Series/VN500w and is apparently what's burning out in my PC, causing a burning smell when turned on and caused my PC to cut off multiple times

Yep, that's probably the problem. Apevia power supplies are generally not good.
If your PC uses standard ATX connections, something like this would be good: https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Certified-Continuous-cooling-PS-SPD-0500NPCWUS-W/dp/B014W3EM2W/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=evga+500w&qid=1586909319&sr=8-3
Edit: Although, that PC is definitely not good for gaming. I'd really recommend a total upgrade. But if that's not in your budget, I get it.

Corsair CX450 would be a good choice. Avoid Thermaltake models.
