Hello people,
I'm in the process of building my first high end gaming system, and need some advice regarding the PSU. So these are the specs:

CPU: Core i7 3770k
GPU: GTX 690
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth Z77
HDD: 1x SSD 120GB intel 520
1x SSD 250GB intel 520
1x some old Western Digital 1TB model HDD, which i have now
oh yeah, and one dvd/rw
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600mhz - CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9
The case will be a Cooler Master HAF X, and because of the fact that i won't be overclocking too much (maybe not at all the first few months), a Cooler Master V8 cooler.

So what do you guys recommend for a PSU? I got my mind set on Corsair TX850...is that enough? Not much overclocking will be going on, that's why i went with it.

Thank you

You'll need a 750w, with 3 drives and a high end motherboard with a 3770k you shouldn't take your chances with a 650w, just try newegg's power usage calculator.

Nvidia recommends a 620w power supply for a GTX 690. That assumes a junk brand generic power supply. Any quality 600 watt model will be plenty.

You'll need a 750w, with 3 drives and a high end motherboard with a 3770k

A "high end" motherboard uses exactly 0 more power than a budget model. Hard drives use less than 10 watts each. SSDs use even less than mechanical drives.

just try newegg's power usage calculator.

Newegg's PSU calculator assumes you are going to buy a piece of crap like Powmax or Thermaltake or Raidmax.

Power supply requirements for systems per card.

Here are some excellent models across various price ranges.

If you don't go with any of those stick with Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling, XFX, Silverstone, Enermax, OCZ and Antec for a quality model.

Seasonic X 650W or Corsair AX 650W is good. The GTX 690 in itself is already SLI card, so I don't think he plans on to quad SLI with another GTX 690 which costs another 1k bucks and the performance gain would be minimal. Quad SLI doesn't scale much at all.

The Seasonic X 650W Gold is actually on sale right now at newegg for 109.99. Input promo code EMCYTZT1804 when check out to get the adjusted price.
