[SOLVED] PSU review

Solution
Ack! Might as well have just said St. Peter retired and the Pearly Gates are closed.

Man, that's terrible news, I mean I'm happy you guys got to move on meaningfully, like your current status and Jeremy's retirement etc, but that was one of the few sites on the web that had actual Value. Those reviews were solid, not up to interpretation and thorough, unlike most others 'it's got a pretty paint job' type.

They'll be sorely missed, even if just by me.
Not the latest and greatest but it gets the job done. Its a decent unit for its price.

That is the latest and greatest version of the S12. That's why it has "III" in the name.

But as TJHooker said, it's not assembled by Seasonic and they didn't send out any review samples, which is always suspicious. Might want to stick to the "known to be good" products and let someone else be a guinea pig. 😉

Yeah, i missed the "iii" and read it as "ii". It boasts the Seasonic name though. Just been launched so hopefully we have some reviews coming shortly.

so you guys mean this is a new release PSU unit,
went out to the market recently ???
Yes, fairly recently.

450W is enough for your build. https://www.newegg.com/corsair-cx-series-cx450-450w/p/N82E16817139201
If you want a higher capacity PSU so you have some headroom for upgrades, you could get the 550/650W version of that PSU. Price is only $5/$10 more than the one you bought (actually $10 cheaper if you go with the 450W), which is worth it IMO to get a PSU you know is decent rather than a largely unknown entity like the one you bought.

Not an issue for that system, 95w cpu and gpu that ranges from 110-170w, plus 100w for everything else. You'd be lucky to see 300w usage overall, even with a decent OC on the cpu.

That S12-III has tons of headroom for your purposes.

Seasonic platform, outsourced for build by RSY. No guarantee on the same quality as in-house built Seasonic.

Not a worthy successor to the S/M12-II series imho, should have been named something else, not tied to that line.

It's been six months. If it hasn't been reviewed by now.....

A Vietnamese reviewer I know got a few units from a local store. Early reports is it is LLC, but uses mag-amp output (not DC to DC). So it's definitely not as good as most PSUs out there today, but it should be "ok".
