Question PSU ripple suppression when there is no grounding

Ripple filtering isn't filtering out unwanted frequencies. It's trying to maintain a DC signal as much as possible after rectifying an AC one.

In any case, the sole purpose of a ground pin is to provide a least-resistance pathway on the chassis so there's minimal risk of electricity going through you instead if something shorted to the chassis and you touched it. And in many mains circuits, the neutral wire is referenced to ground anyway.

So not having a ground pin is more of a safety issue, not a reliability issue.
