[SOLVED] PSU sparking noise - computer no longer turns on

Hi all,

Recently I built a new system, see parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/spagboll/saved/RhqrrH

• Used it for over 2 months now
• Noticed sparking whilst plugged in, but turned off - so I moved it to another socket
• It then made a spark sound while turned on, and no longer switches on at all

I haven't overclocked the system, nor did I really do intense gaming - I'm very casual.

As a precaution, I'm having my outlets tested by an electrician.

As far as I can see, my components are compatible (correct me if im wrong). Although PCPartPicker states my PSU doesn't have an additional 4-pin ATX connect for the motherboard :/

I suspect, and hope, it's just a dodgy PSU & luckily I am well within warranty

Any thoughts?

seems likely that's what happened you are within warranty, though. hopefully it didn't take anything else with it.

Good grief! Where did you get that old power supply? Those were released nearly 10 years ago. Did you buy it used?

My bad, the parts list is wrong - I've got the Corsair 650W TX650M Gold Hybid Modular Power Supply/PSU

Thanks, I'm hoping to get an electrician around soon - just a bit bummed, as it is a very good PSU. Hoping i dont need to replace other parts. It's bizarre though, never had problems with my sockets with my previous computer :/
