Question PSU still working fine after i accidentally switched the voltage to 115v in a country that uses 230v

I wanted to test out my old pc,and i didn't notice the voltage switch was at 115v instead of 230.The psu turned on,made weird noise and it was smoking a bit with a smell of burnt plastic.After i switched it back to 230v,it was working completely fine.can someone explain,how did it survive this? Someone told me that i probably fried the transformer which was getting 115v,but i'm still surprised it even turns on and works

If its smoking I would not use it again. Poses too much of a safety risk, both to you and your PC.

Really if any modern PSU has a voltage switch thats not a sign of strong quality and I'm surprised it survived the mistake.
