PSU too powerful?

Hi,

Would a 450w or 550w PSU be ok to use in a PC that only needs a PSU of around 250w to 300w?

What are the downsides of using a PSU rated for almost twice the amount of power you need?

It wont reach peak performance and your paying more for something you wont use. But your will be fine. Try to keep it around 65-85% of what you need. So your good. go for it.
