Hey everyone! I just wanted to get some opinions on what a good PSU is these days. It’s been awhile since I’ve gotten one so I’m a bit out of the loop. I currently have a Corsair CX750m bronze. I’m looking to go to a gold rated 850watt. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also any price points and brands to avoid is welcomed knowledge too!

Well generally ATX 3.0 PSU are good choices.

Corsair RM850e, RM850x and Shift models. Older RM850x are good, but you may need to order a Type 4 12VHPWR (600W) cable if you ever need to hook up to a late model Nvidia card.
MSI MAG 850W
Thermaltake GX3 or GF A3
ASUS has a few ATX 3.0 models that are made by Seasonic. I believe be quiet! also got in on that with their Pure Power 12 series
Seasonic themselves have a few models.

Also a few updated PSUs from ASUS, Lian Li, and Silverstone that have the new PCIe 12 pin cable. This supports 675W and has a slightly better design to prevent improper connections.

In addition to the above, Super Flower are good PSUs. SF are an OEM so naturally their own stuff is good.

This is a good overwies (not authoritative though, just for reference) - https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

https://hwbusters.com/ - bust many many PSUs. Good info there.

Edit - Watch out for the ATX 3.0 stuff. Might be a short lived standard if it's replaced by ATX 3.1 soon.
If you don't need ATX 3.0 or 3.1, then ignore it.

Yeah right now I’m using the 2 separate PCI-E cables running into the adapter that came with my 40 series card. Which I’m fine with.

Woah dude! That seems solid and the price isn’t bad at all. In fact I’m wondering what the catch is? lol

Not exactly a catch but multi rail PSUs can be overwhelmed by monstrous GPUs or i9K/KS. Are you building something like that? I presume not, because you'd be looking for a 1200w-1600w PSU.

For "normal" 850w operation that PSU is a peach.
