I'm building a PC and i was wondering what watt psu would i need and what would be the best brand or model / reasonably priced psu
CPU :intel i5 4670k (haswell) LGA 1150
motherboard: MSI Z87 G45 lga 1150
memory:Corsair vengence cl (8GB)4GB x 2 1600mhz
GPU: msi gefore gtx 760 2048 mb
Optical drive:Samsung 24x SH-224DB DVD-RW SATA
monitor: asus Vs228d 22 inch

See the second link in my sig for what I'd consider recommended/reliable PSUs. You want something 500W+.

Voltage depends on country, but all the PSUs in the higher tiers should support the full range of voltages worldwide.

You can get any of this for sure:Seasonic, XFX, Corsair, Antec. 500~600W, and you should be fine

I wouldn't buy a Corsair CX, but I tend to agree with the others.

yea I agree, CX builder series is bottom line from Corsair, still reliable but I recommend somthing more like TX, HX, AX series

Not that reliable. They went for crap caps, which will fail early. There's plenty of reports of them dying.

yea, I was based on tier 3 list(Tier 3 Brands - Power supplies fully able to meet ATX specs, although closer to the edges of the limits than higher tier units. Still solid units) but as you just say, it seems like real world is showing other fact, maybe Eggxpert Tiered Power Supply List need an update on that specific model.

Corsair has shown good stable units, is a very reputable brand, so is a shame to hear that they are using crap caps, I just hope this issue does not become permanent.

The low quality part at least is explained by the fact that if it's not on the list, it's bad. What good ones are missing?

I agree, and other thing that really worries me is the fact that this particular model (CX500W)is made by Channel Well, so they whent for crap caps ??. that is really rare.
I will be looking for some in depth reviews to update myself.

The CX Series including the CXM the modular version are not good , cheaply built.
