PSU wattage for GTX 1080 and i7 6700k both OC

Hi,
Im looking at getting a corsair RMx psu for these parts and was wondering what wattage I would need.

With no OC the system will draw around 350 watts(yes that is correct). A 550w - 650w PSU would be fine. Newegg has the RM750X on sale right now for the same price as the 650w one. I personally go a bit higher than what is needed because I like the fans to spin slow or not at(this PSU wont spin its fan on until it hits a decent load) all since I like my PC to be very quiet.

350 watts or a bit more depending on the amount of regular hard drives, water cooling could increase this and overclocking will add more 650 would be a good choice but if the 750 is lower price no reason not to get it.

The 650 Watt will work just fine but if the 750 is the same price no reason not to buy it.

500w to work .650w to play 700 w to be sure .850w to sli .950w to make a nice sli.

Honestly a 650 watt would give you headroom to OC and then some. If you can find a 750 watt PSU for the same price as the 650 then by all means get the 750 watt(since I looked newegg was running that deal). With a 350 watt draw you are still in the sweet spot for efficiency for either of those options.



I wouldn't go any higher than 750 watt unless you really thing you need to SLI.
