Hello, so basically i wanted to ask if getting a bit higher W psu worth it?

I planning to get system something like this: https://image.prntscr.com/image/1578ef34f02a460ea4d3eda3091f1f45.png

I calculated the max wattage with oc, load: 427W, so 550W psu is enough 100W+ room? Main thing i want to know if psu on lower % load, does it live longer/degrade slower? 427W load and i get 650W for example rather than 550W, i heard from youtube techys that going for a bit higher psu is not a bad idea, i wanted to ask you guys, what do you recommend?

Also I want to go with this psu: https://image.prntscr.com/image/4e871c9eb6284c5084d0a56dfd72f103.png

JonnyGURU rated it 9.8 and i read EVGA really makes quality stuff + full modular, also that eco mode is nice up until 80% load fan is a bit quieter, tho i don't really know if 5dBA is much lol.

Would appreciate some detailed info about this. :)

Wow replied so quickly lol, 550/650W price difference where I'm from is 15$~ so i wanna go with 650W 😀

Thinking if i upgrade to 1080ti later, CM calculator shows 519W load, so 650W would still be enough with that card right? Also thanks for the quick replys guys! :)

I see, i just noticed you're like the god of this site, its an honour sir, thanks for the info I'll stop reading so much now about PSU's and wattages lol.

A system containing a highly overclocked 7700k (which is unlikely in your scenario with that CPU cooler) and a GTX 1080ti consumes around 340watt average at a typical gaming load. You will even be clear with a high quality 450w unit. 550 watts is enough for all modern builds with a single GPU with comfortable room for overclocking, fans, drives, led strips, etc.

I didin't put cpu cooler there, unless you're referring to that ad, well if 1080ti draws 334W with entire system on gaming load then yes, 550W becomes overkill and wattage calculators over estimate big time.

I heard Joker Productions from youtube said something that going a bit overkill isn't bad because psu will degrade slower something like that, thats why i thought to go for more powerful PSU and also ask around to what people think. :)
