[SOLVED] PSU With Ryzen 2700x and RTX 2070

I have an 550W Coolermaster bronze certified PSU and currently running a ryzen 2700x with an GTX 1060
I'm planning to upgrade to an RTX 2070 soon but do I need to upgrade my PSU?

Given the cost of parts in your system I would upgrade regardless to a good Gold PSU like a EVGA G2 or G3, Seasonic FOCUS or Corsair TX or RM PSU.

Just out of curiosity, why should I get a gold certified?

If the power supply is no longer under warranty, purchase a new one. A solid 650w psu will be perfect for that build, allowing headroom for more advanced future upgrades.

Gold rated PSU are more efficient and eternally have better parts. The Seasonic FOCUS Gold PSUs are usually very affordable and are solid units as are any of the others I listed.

Yeah man, you can get a 750w unit for like 60 bucks.
