Hey I'm buying a gtx 980 ti, which needs 2x 8pin cables. My motherboard uses one 8 pin too.

At the moment my PSU only has:
1x 8pin
2x 6pin
and a lot of those other cabels.

By reading I have become to know that adapters are a very bad idea. So I want to buy a new PSU with three 8 pin connectors. Any good PSUs out there with three 8 pin connectors?

Also is it really a bad Idea to use adapters? I thought of using one 2x 6pin to 8 pin adapter and a dual molex to 8 pin. Would that work and be safe?

These PSUs have 4x 6+2 pin. They work just as 8 pins? Right now I have one of these 6+2 pins, but it doesn't fit into the 8 pin.

I got my PSU out and found out that it's a 750W, it has one 4+4 pin which is the one connecting my motherboard with power. Then I have e 6pin and a 6+2pin.

The 6+2pin functions just like a 8 pin right?, it just doesn't fit in the motherboards 8pin spot, but I guess it's two different types? but my 6+2 pin will fit in my gtx 980 ti right?

Would it work if I just used a 6pin to 8pin adaptor for filling the last 8pin slot in the gtx 980 ti? Or would it be better if I used a dual molex to 8pin adaptor?

Don't buy a GTX980Ti.

Buy a GTX1070 instead.

The GTX1070 is faster by a small amount (up to 60% on top of that in VR) and cheaper. It's also got new features, more video memory, uses less power etc.

(The GTX1080 only has one 8-pin. The GTX1070 will either have one 8-pin or one 6-pin)

MSRP is $379USD.

More info (we still need 3rd party validation):

Read my above about the GTX1070, but:

1) 6+2 = 8-pin. Yes. Correct.

2) CPU and PCIe 8-pins are different. Yes. Correct (idiot proof connectors)

3) dual-Molex is for 6-pin only AFAIK.

Again though, the GTX1070 is what you want. You'll just have to wait a bit longer (maybe two months depending on availability) but it beats the GTX980Ti in every way possible.
