[SOLVED] PSU won't power only hard drives

I would like to add more disks than my main PSU can afford, so I plugged them on another PSU (Corsair VS450) but it does not power as CPU and motherboard connectors are not used.

How can I force the second PSU to provide power to my hard drives ?

You'd need to 'jump' the ATX connector manually to start the PSU - either with a paperclip or a specific connector (usually ships with EVGA PSUs, not sure about any other manufacturer).

However, this seems like asking for trouble. PSUs can be damaged from sudden power-offs, and with no control via the other PSU, you're either leaving them running 24/7 or you're cutting the power without warning.

What PSU do you have currently? How many SATA devices are connected? Perhaps a molex to SATA adapter would be of use?
