Hey guys my PSU is Corsair HX850i & it doesn't spin.

My PSU fan does not spin, after I power my computer on it spins for awhile and stops.

My PC runs smoothly & everything is working fine.

I tried to run some benchmarks & stress tests. But the PSU fan will never spin. No matter how hot it is.

My specs are:

Motherboard: Asus ROG MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA DDR4 ATX Motherboard

Processor: Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.00 GHz

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit - Red LED

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Premium Pack Video Card

Power Supply: Corsair HX850i

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

That is perfectly normal. Your PSU is a bit overkill for your Specs. The fan problably only turns on when over 40% capacity. My specs are quite similar to yours with a XFX XTR 750W and I don´t think I ever saw mine turn on.. Nothing to worry about.

I have the exact same PSU, what you can do is this; there is a little fan test button that, when the computer has power you can hold the button down and the fan should spin and stop when you release the button.

You're PSU fan will only kick in when it is getting hot and with your specs and mine, it won't get hot 😀

You can download this to monitor your PSU temp as long as you have the Micro USB cable plugged into your PSU and then into your motherboard: http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/support/downloads (Select Corsair Link)

Thank you. I have always been wondering when will it start to spin.

The thing is...it won't...ever

That's why the HX850i is a godly PSU, you will have to have an OC processor, and quad SLI OC 1080's before that PSU will even attempt to cool itself 😀
