Pulse Elite connected to PC and PS3 at the same time.?

Hi guys.

I just had an idea to make Sony's Pulse Elite work at the PS3 and PC without having to move the dongle all the time, but I am not sure if it would work (I haven't bought the Pulse yet), so I decided to ask for opinions about it. I have already created topics about it on other forums, but I did not get any satisfactory answer; so I decided to come here.

My PS3 stays close to my PC, so I thought about getting a Pulse Elite and use it with both. I was going to connect the dongle into the PS3 and would use a 3,5mm cable to connect my PC to the dongle. The problem is that I would get no sound from my PC if the console is turned off, so I thought a about buying USB Y cable:

Please, take a look and give your opinion. I just want to use the headset on my PC and PS3 without having to move the dongle all the time. I do not care about not being able to use the mic on PC.

I see but it wont work. The second port of the y cable is power only, no data.

A USB switchbox might though. (example below)

Well, when it comes to stereo sound, it seems that the usb dongle needs only power to work.
The thinner cable of the Y is for power only, I think. It could work If I connect the thinner cable to a PC or a power adapter, but I am not sure. I think I will wait for other users to give their opinion.

I checked the switchbox, but I am not sure if it would work as well.

Its definitely not just power for the dongle. It transmits the sound so has to know what sound to transmit, thus it must receive data.
