News Pump-free 360mm AIO liquid cooler goes up for preorder at $419 — Threadripper variant caries an eye-watering $599 price tag

As a current user of the Prosiphon on a Threadripper, I can tell you that they are incredible. This is a premium item for those that are going to push cpus really hard, overclock or want an item that lasts a long time (with a great warranty). I am curious what the wattage they can cool will be for these. I only have good things about their past products and am looking forward to the testing of these.

How sensitive are these things to orientation and temperature range?
Orientation of their current coolers matters (condenser above the evaporator) and I would suggest it will matter for these as well.
When you say "temp range", are you referring to ambient, case, or cpu?

I spoke with IceGiant at CES and they confirmed the cooler can only be mounted horizontally on top. They would need a different SKU entirely for vertical mounts and wasn't on their roadmap.

But they cool like a monster. They demoed the Threadripper hitting ~850w and they got a new record in y-cruncher 10b while doing it.

Nice! Impressive!

I'm a big fan of their technology and have been looking forward to something with the advantage of an AIO and longevity of an air cooler. Given the cost of the good AIOs for TR/Xeon W already crosses $300 the price for the TR version doesn't seem too awful. The pricing for the client one just seems a bit too high. It costs $100 more than the forthcoming Hyte Q80 (which is already very expensive) and I'd be surprised if it cooled better. I hope it's good, but when you can get top performing regular 360mm AIOs for $120-200 the price tag just seems questionable.

No pump, so mechanical failure is dealt with.
Copper evaporator and aluminum condenser... If it's going to cost that much, they should've just gone copper on the whole thing.
There's a serious lack of full copper options as it is. If folks are willing to spend 200+ on Corsair and NZXT's overpriced stuff, there's no reason not to have more all copper units available.

Like the idea but does it have brackets to hold it or does it mount to the top of you case not sure i would want that weight hanging off my socket !!

The actual site shows better pictures that there are rubber hoses allowing for top mounting !!

so why no pump ?

Sounds good, except for the price. When the capable, yet terribly named Corsair iCUE Link Titan RX 360 RGB is $200 and carries a 6 year warranty, you could write off two over 12 years and still be cheaper.

Top mounting is mandatory due to the nature of the technology and the tubes being flexible metal so they're not adjustable like rubber.
so why no pump ?
Super simplified: It's a thermosiphon so the design circulates the fluid via phase change without needing a pump.
