Punisher PC game 2005

Just bought the punisher game for my new pc and set it up to play, as soon as I click start this pops up...

"Failed to initialize Direct 3D device
D3DERR_DRIVERINTERNALERROR (8876086c)

Things to check when having directx3d problems
- video card not compatible
- Directx 8.1 not installed properly
-retry running setup/video card detection

My computer plays old and new games fine but for some reason this game just seems to be playing up, it also seems to have happened to loads of people while searching on google online and THQ did not give them help.

I have a "Liberator X6" AMD FX-6 6300 @ 4.1GHz Turbo Nvidia GeForce Six Core Gaming PC

Windows 7 professional
16.00 GB RAM (15.97 GB usable)
CPU - AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight Core processor
GeoFroce GTX 780
Direct X version 11 and up to date
My GeForce driver is up to date.

Windows has no updates.

How can i fix this game so it works.

Is there a problem with my Directx or graphics card?

You are trying to run a 10 year old game. Expect issues. The easiest thing you can do is going into the properties of the .exe file for Punisher and run it in XP compatibility mode. That may fix your issue.

I've tried running it from compatibility mode 95 up till 2003 but it still has the same problem

When I try opening the game with 3d analyzer I get this error "Could not copy C:\3danalyzer-v23\hook_3DA.dll to D:\hook_3DA.dll!"
