Recently malwarebytes has been warning me of a potentially unwanted program called "PUP.Optional.Reimage". I think its an adware mean't to display ads on desktop and inject ads to your browser. Every time I try to delete it via malwarebytes it just appears again on the next scan.

I got ads to my desktop which i had to manually close and they were from Driver Booster so i deleted it still no progress.

I can't even find the file malwarebytes is telling me about because there is no "chrome" file in my appdata.

If you use Chrome to login to a Google account (Gmail, Youtube, Drive, etc), Chrome has a "feature" where it backs up your Chrome configuration to Google's cloud servers. Any time you reinstall Chrome, it uses the backup to sync the new install and put Chrome back to its original state. Unfortunately, this means any malware which got backed up gets put right back on your system after Malwarebytes removes it.

To clear it, you need to delete the PUP from your browser and delete the backed up sync data, before Chrome tries to sync the two again. You may have to uninstall Chrome, delete all of its program and user profile folders (in the hidden \Users\[username]\AppData\Google folder). Use a different browser to delete the Chrome sync...

Here's a newer guide in case Google has changed the procedure since 2012.
