Purchased a New HP Computer at Circuit City and it does not even come with recovery disc's anymore.

You have to burn your own using own DVD's and the computer.

How cheap are these manufacturers getting?

Will HP send me the Vista disc if I call and yell at them?

What Ya Think?

no, because the deal is hp own the licence, and have given the right to use it, this is a ploy so that manufacturers can reduce cost and microsoft is on every machine

My laptop is from hp
and it did not come with a vista cd or a recovery cd for that matter. The recovery is a partition of the hard drive. You have to pay extra for a recovery cd.
Also can you use the recovery cd on a new HD and have the full hp vista isntal?

I bet they wont. They dont do this anymore. You would have to download a copy of your Vista version and when installing, use the cd key that you have.

slim,

I think your right --- cant tell you how many times my xp backup disk saved me---- be interesting to see what happens if people need to reinstall and have no backup disk available as people sometimes dont see this as issue until the problem occurs.
