So I ordered a Dell Alienware Aurora R5 from the dell outlet on cyber monday.

When I got it though the OS was installed on the HDD not the SSD.

I downloaded an iso image to make an installation disk for windows 10 off of microsoft.comn, and I want to format the harddrive and then install it on the SSD but im worried when i go to put in the product ID it will say the ID is already in use or something.

I've called microsoft and no one there can speak english, i cant even understand a word they say.

Can someone help?

Before you swap, have a look in settings/update & security/activation and in the right hand column, does PC say its activated with a digital licence. If it says that or something along lines of Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account, then you okay to swap hdd

If it doesn't, you can follow this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change

You shouldn't need to do that anyway, once win 10 is activated on the PC it can always be reinstalled.

You don't need to know the product ID anymore, its all stored on MIcrosoft servers alongside your PC info and your email address. The first time PC is connected to internet it had all thsi info...

You don't need to know the product ID anymore, its all stored on MIcrosoft servers alongside your PC info and your email address. The first time PC is connected to internet it had all thsi info recorded on a MS server. See step 3 below, its all automatic now, you don't need to do anything

Steps
1. Remove hdd from power
2. Install SSD
3. Boot from installer and when you reach screen asking for licence key, click "I don't have a key" and click next. Once PC is installed and Win 10 has connected to a server, it will reactivate itself.
4. Once PC can boot without need of USB. turn it off and unplug ssd from power, reattach hdd
5. I would run http://www.dban.org/ on the hdd so its clean
6. reattach ssd and use hdd as storage, - use disk management to set up hdd
