Purchasing Custom i5 build

Jun 17, 2011
I am about to purchase a gaming computer from a friend in pristine condition and need some advice on a few things. My overall goal is to play new games like Battlefield 3 on Ultra High settings with zero lag, keep in mind I'm planning on using a single monitor setup with a 1920x1080 resolution and I don't plan on doing any multi-monitor setups.
I have already aquired:
The OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
RAM: 8GB G.SKill DDR3 RAM PC3-12800
Gaming Razer Mouse

My friend sent this information on his build and told me he is selling it at a discount.

CoolerMaster HAF 922 $99.98
Corsair 1000 HX 1000w PS $239.99
ASROCK P67 EXTREME4 (B3) $159.99
MEM 2Gx2|GSKILL F3-12800CL8D-4GBXM $49.99 (so I will have 16GB)
Intel Core i5 Processor i5-2500K 3.3GHz 6MB LGA1155 CP $219.99
Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler $69.99
(3) COOLER MASTER Megaflow 200mm Red LED Case Fan $65.97
(2) EVGA GTX 570 SC (lifetime warranty) $369.99 each

Retail Total $1645.70

It has not been used very much at all and he is selling it for $950. (I know this is missing many components) Do you think that this deal is worth it for these parts?

My other selections:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148348 - Crucial 128 GB SSD $231

I need help picking out a monitor, I decided I wanted to go with something around 23":

Asus 23.6" LED Monitor $169.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236112
Asus 23" LED Monitor $164.99-

Or do you have any other suggestions for a monitor?

I also need a suggestion for a keyboard, standard size, need a big backspace button, and I don't want to spend more than $30.

Thank you for your time!

CoolerMaster HAF 922 - 90$ amazon including S&H
ASROCK P67 EXTREME4 - 157$ amazon including S&H
Intel Core i5 Processor i5-2500K - 180$ Microcenter; 220$ elsewhere
Prolimatech Megahalems - 70$
COOLER MASTER Megaflow 200mm Red LED Case Fan - $15x3 [45] Amazon
EVGA GTX 570 SC - $305x2 [610] Newegg

Microcenter usually let you get a deal with compatible motherboards when you purchase a high end CPU. If you buy his exact parts today.. it will cost you around $1200 so the price you're buying for assuming seems profitable on your end; the components he uses are pretty high end and won't depreciate fast.

Unfortunately the closest Fry's is in Austin which is about an hour from where I live. Also, the closest microcenter is about 3.5 hours aways so I'm really unfortunate, I hope they open one in San Antonio sometime.
