You put 130s and 90s from intel. Why not 90s from AMD?

Winchester and Venice typically consume close to 40w less than their 130nm cousins. Doh.

Dichromatic for your viewing plesure...

What about the "Dual Channel DDR400 FSB 200 MHz" for the Clawhammer and the Newcastle?

I didn't think those cores supported a dual channel interface.

No, it's just you. Tom's was the site that brought P3 and P4 problems to light in the first place.

Yes, it was.. a long time ago. Now its mostly a waste of bandwith.

Read the end of the article, it makes clear what the purpose of the article is.
(Wait, do not buy better CPU now, buy when ***** has improved their crappy DC's)

:)

They obviously didnt put much thought into the AMD side of things becasue they have the very old newcastle 3500+ in there and apparently its some special edition which only runs @ 2ghz according to the article. But ya why put amd's .09nm in there when it would make intel look average rather than ahead of the game......Gawd I hate politics.

Yeh, it was a P4 vs P-M article with a few irrelevent Athlons thrown in the mix. They should have used newer Athlons, but who knows where the review took place and what the original tester had in hand at the time.

I know I would have done all I could to get a Venice in the review, but then again if it came down to me buying one out-of-pocket, that's more than I can do!

well i'm sure amd would gladly supply them with whatever chips they need given early enough notification but as for intel chips they just have to walk down the hall and get their brib-- sry their chips from their good ol neighbor.

AMD hasn't sent me any free chips.

Oh really ? If they where irrelevant, they should have been left out. If they wheren't, they should have been the latest ones as well. It makes no sense to specifically leave those out, as someone who is interested in lower power consumption is surely interested in 90nm A64's ? Why would he choose only between high power and 64 bit capability or low power, 32 bit only when 90nm A64s might be the best of both worlds ?

Whats next ? An article on video enconding performance comparing Athlon 64 with FX and X2, and a few 'irrelevant' P4 willamettes and Celerons thrown in, but no Pentium 6xx or 8xx ?

No, that would imply a lack of Intel bias... More likely an FX-53 and X2 4200+ (and single-channel ram with some lame excuse about how it didn't work in DC?), with overclocked versions of the D840, 670, etc. just to prove that intel can compete.

Mike.

It wouldn't surprise me.
