Putting new SSD in new laptop

Hey, so i just purchased a new SSD from ebay to use in my new hp envy 14. Thing is, there is only one slot for either an hdd or ssd. So if I were to remove the hdd and then put the new blank ssd in, would the BIOS still operate and let me clean install windows to the SSD? And will UEFI boot still work?

So removing the hdd now and then putting the ssd in means it'll still boot for me to clean install windows 10 right?

And then I'm hoping to put this 2.5 inch hdd into my 2008 desktop tower by using a 2.5 to 3.5 inch bracket.
