Putting SSD from one PC into another and booting?

So yesterday my motherboard on my main PC failed. Sucks hard.

Today I'm borrowing a tower from a family member, but I don't want to have to re install everything for what is probably going to be a week or so on this computer.

Can I somehow just pop in my PC's SSD and boot off of it?

I already tried it, but I got a TON of driver errors for some reason. It wouldn't detect my ethernet adapter, it wasn't detecting USB ports properly. It was a mess. Is this typical and is there a way to fix it with out messing with the BIOS of my borrowed computer?

Would be a huge convenience if I don't have to try reinstalling everything I'm going to need for the next week or so, but I'm afraid if I mess with anything itll goof up his BIOS or something when I go to return it to him.

That is typical behavior. Windows has the drivers necessary for your dead motherboard. Unless you get EXACTLY the same motherboard you had, you will probably have to reinstall Windows when you get your PC back together.

Moving a drive with already installed OS often means a full reinstall. Either it works, or it doesn't.
And if it doesn't, there is no workaround other than a full reinstall.

Bummer, so there is no way for me just do a driver reinstall of windows or something? I don't really want to format since theres nothing wrong with my SSD and I want the stuff on it.
