Puzzled by relative pricing of Dell's U2713H and P2715Q monitors

I'm shopping for the sharpest--i.e. highest resolution--monitor I can afford, because I write code all day long, and fuzzy text chews up my eyes.

I'm considering a couple of Dell's high-resolution monitors, the U2713H and the P2715Q.

Both monitors have the same size (27"), but different resolutions: 2560x1440 for the U2713H and 3840x2160 for the P2715Q.

Surprisingly (to me anyway), Dell is currently selling the U2713H for $750 and the P2715Q for $700.

How come the (higher-resolution) P2715Q is less expensive than the U2713H? Does the P2715Q have some significant shortcoming that would explain this?

Thanks in advance!

U2713H is the IPS type, and P2715Q is the HD 4K type. Read the review for P2715Q, I think that why it has the lower price.

Uhh, the U27 is an older model. The P27 is newer.

The P27 is superior in everyway, I'm just guessing the U27 is maybe produced less or it's just more expensive to produce.

BUT, 4k requires a PRETTY strong GPU.

Both U2713H and P2715Q feature IPS screen.
The U2713H is an old model and hard to get, I gather, you should check out either the U2713HM or the U2715H, which are $800 and $650 respectively.
As for the price difference, it might be because the U2713HM and U2713H are not manufactured anymore and the U2713HM has quite a reputation, so this might be driving the price up, or maybe it's just that the displays were more expensive alltogether back when the U2713HM was released.
As for shortcomings, it seems from the reviews, that the P2715Q has some yellow-ish discoloration in the middle section of the screen, also it is not a part of the UltraSharp line-up.

Anyway, I'm looking to buy the P2715Q as well. Can you please tell me which one you bought and if you are happy with your choice?

The U2713H has 100% sRGB coverage and 99% aRGB coverage. If you want to cover the entire Adobe range, neither the P2715Q nor the U2713HM will do that. They do cover the sRGB, though.
