Wow, it's been a really long time since I last posted here. So many
things have changed! The character I'm using is my old character, but I
thought it would be cool to be a little mysterious as to who it is. My
handle is new, as I don't was to spoil the surprise : )Don't worry, I
wasn't banned in the past
Well, here we go:
It's not how they say it is. At least, not for me. Unending darkness,
an emotionless vacuum devoid of time and space. Only a naked
consciousness, half alive in a fog of what once was.
Eons pass, the echo of life never increases. No rest, no dreams, just
silence. I'm awake, destined to observe the nothingness of my
afterlife.
I used to think about what I could have done better. My goals were
first to leave my mind. All aspirations and hopes dwindled into
twilight. Was I good? Did I kill? How I long to know the answers. I
knew them once, long ago.
What was my name again? Not that it matters, it would just be nice to
know that I was someone.
---
I must be imagining it. Can I even imagine anymore? A light? So faint,
but unmistakable. Whispering now, so faint. What are you saying,
it's all a mess. I don't understand, please just a little louder!
Wait, it must be. Finally, I've arrived at the end of all things.
Rest at last; my eternal gift.
Something's not right. I...feel. I can feel the cold. This is all
wrong.
Is to die so much to ask?
//Green light. Stabilized. Wake up.\\
Piercing metal. Pain, overwhelming. All over?
Scarlet tide. Dying rat. I'm sorry.

At first, it was blazing white. Everything was obscured, but it was a
change from the shadows. Emerald blades of grass, the first thing he
recognized, were blurred as though looking through a glass of water.
As things became more focused, he turned his attention to his body.
Just as his other senses were impaired, he didn't realize the grass
poking his very naked self. Clenching his fist was relatively easy,
though attempting to stand up caused his thighs to tremble and fail.
In the back of his mind he wondered why his muscles worked with
relative ease, but instead embraced that he was whole again.
Finally standing up, he explored his rediscovered body. The slender
frame was surprisingly toned, though an irregular shaped red mark as
long and wide as his hand blemished the center of his abdomen. No
other marks were visible, nor was there any trace of dirt. Feeling his
head revealed short cropped hair and light stubble growing on his face,
slightly rough to the touch.
The area immediately surrounding where he awoke seemed nondescript save
for an unlabeled bag lying next to his right foot. A dirt road lay
roughly one hundred feet to his left, while ancient oak and pine's
towering shadows flanked his right. Pressed khaki pants bearing no
markings caught his eye as he unzipped the black dufflebag. Directly
underneath lay a small ball, the top half a bright red and the bottom a
spotless white. Taking it in the palm of his hand, he gripped his
fingers around the familiar object. He knew this had been important to
him, but felt no connection.
Without warning, his head began pounding. He dropped the pokeball and
fell to his knees while cradling his skull. A small knife digging
through his brain may have caused less pain. Snapshots of places,
people, and strange creatures flashed in his mind like lightning in the
night sky. Islands in the sky, singing creampuffs, battle on a cruise.
A sudden wisp of cold shocked him back to reality. The cool breeze
began to give him goosebumps, and the increasingly cloudy sky hinted at
poorer weather arriving soon. Quickly slipping on the pants, he wished
he had underwear and warmer clothes. Some town or city must be nearby;
he could find better supplies there. With any luck, some information
may be available as well. So many questions.
Slowly leaving the clearing he picked up the pokeball and put it back
in the dufflebag, zipped it up and threw it over his right shoulder.
His sight still out of focus, he slowly made his way towards the dirt
pathway. Getting on the road, he turned towards the sunrise and set
off. He had enough of the dark.
