I would like to thank those who submitted the text files I specified in my
recent post about the PW!-dex Project. The first version of the program
(which only contains a browser and the WG Navigator feature) is almost ready
for deployment. However, I'm still missing Pokemon information for the
following characters:

Bandraptor: The Brotherhood of Evil Pokemon, Nori, Cappie, and Sapphire

Clayton: Derek, Bob, and Jeff

MechaGojira: Dan and Goro

Jose Solano: Carol

Adrian Tymes: Mimic and Doppler

Dreadite: Dreadite

Saint Paul: John

Dr. Thinker: Jutta

Tech: Keiko, Kitsu and Keaton, Lynkeru, and Mace

Pipian: Mamoru/Yuki

Bonus Island: Russ

Undrhil: Trousle and Lisa

I would like to receive as many text files as possible by April 30th so that
I can release it when I update the PW! Pavilion on May First. For authors
who don't send me text files, I'll just use whatever information is provided
in those authors' WGs.

Disagreed.

When interacting, I know my personal biggest problem is writing for other
people's Pokémon.

They almost always have their own specific personalities, but writers don't
always think to include guidelines for those in their WG. I didn't even do
so until the most recent update for each character.

So basically, the only alternative currently is to skim past posts to
refresh one's memory and try to work out how the Pokémon's mind works. This
would be very hard work if you wanted to write about, say, Elsa's Roselia,
due to the length and amount of posts featuring her. Now consider Ashura.
See my point?

This also encourages writers to make their Pokémon three-dimensional. This
is a skill which took me a while to master, not least of which because I
didn't think to do it. I couldn't quite place my finger on why so many
writers for PW! managed such entertaining stories and mine were trash.

Pokémon, due to a lack of limit on them in a WG, are effectively your free
characters. Ignoring that they're even there would do them a great
injustice, and I do think it's worth having a log of their "mini WGs".

Maybe you won't find it helpful, but I definately will.

If you don't want to participate, that's fine. Like I said, I'll work with
what's specifically in the Writer's Guides for those who don't submit text
files. Personally, I like seeing some of the Nature selections people have
made for their Pokemon (I like comparing them to the personalities I've seen
depicted thus far), and knowing Abilities will come in handy when writing
battles. Levels are optional, just like all the rest of the information, and
some have chosen to just use "???" as the level. If you decide to download
the program and change your mind about it after using it, you can always
submit additional information later.

agreed. I've been attempting to develop my pokemon characters more,
but it's kind've hard when often you only have a four or five syllable
vocabulary to work with.

Rob, I'll try and get that file to you soon

That doesn't really matter as much. The trick is to jump into the Pokémon's
mind. It's actually a very good means of developing a character, since
you're SHOWING instead of TELLING. When you lose the ability to have the
Pokémon say "I'm nervous", you're forced to write with more subtlety, saying
something like "the Pokémon backed away, squeaking softly".

This is why I opt to write all speech as said, instead of the alternative of
"translating" speech.
