Q-flash not recognizing my USB

Hey I'm trying to update my gigabyte z170 gaming 3 mobo with q-flash, however in q-flash it doesn't recognize that I have a USB plugged in it does however recognize my hard drive (yes the USB is directly plugged in to the mobo and yes it ONLY has the bios update on the usb), however when I go to the peripheral tab in the bios it clearly shows the USB connected to it...

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, Ive been researching my problem for the past half hour.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this, but in the peripheral tab next to my USB it saids [auto], am I needing to change it to one of the other options of floppy, forced FDD, hard disk, or CD-ROM for it to recognize it for q-flash?

PS the bios version I am using it very old, from 2015

It is filesystem issue, BIOS supports only FAT filesystem. You need to format the usb with fat or fat32, try FAT first. Copy flash file directly to it - it should not be under a folder. Then q-flash will see it.

If you have a single usb disk, copy its contents to your disk, format usb, do BIOS update, then reformat and copy yourfiles back from disk.

I figured it out, I disabled something called 'legacy' I forgot exactly what it was called but it had to do with USB's

Disabling 'Legacy USB' will make some USB devices not work. So, if you encounter such a case, enable Legacy USB and try again.

Yes, that was it, however when I disabled it my USB was suddenly detected... Event though that was contrary to its description. Legacy USB was already enabled for me, for all those having problems try disabling it, that's what helped me

eyupo92 is right, I've tried everything mentioned and it didn't work at first but when I formated my USB to "FAT" it detected the latest bios files for my old ass gigabyte mobo. You might see "Floppy A" but that's ok because when pressed latest bios file should appear. "FAT" format option worked for me as the last cause. Thanks!

Yeah - had the same issue with QFlash. Formatted in FAT (not FAT32 or NTFS), put the file in the root of the USB drive, and make sure it's plugged into a USB2.0 port. Don't do any single one of those things and you'll be banging your head on the table trying to figure it out.
