Have a check to see if the motherboard you have has the ability to flash a new bios firmware file to update to the current bios revision so it supports and works with the new model of cpu you have.
I know that with Asus branded boards you can use a USB flash drive connected to a set usb port of the system where you place the bios file on the root of the drive.
You then press, and hold a button located on the motherboard it`s self for around ten seconds.
And it will perform a bios upgrade of the motherboard without the Cpu being present or fitted to the cpu socket of the motherboard Alpha.
And if memory serves me right Gigabyte boards had the same feature option.
