Q.Memory clockdown and cas latency

I am just building a new rig, mainly gaming and some video editing, for my stepson. I've been out if this game for 15yrs now so am looking for some advice from you up-to-daters please.

I have already bought:
Sabertooth fx990 R2 mboard
Amd FX 8350 CPU

Memory is my current query. Should I go for 2400 2x8gb with a cas of 11; would the above CPU&board allow with latest firmware?
If not and it gets clocked down, would its cas be lowered to say cl9 at 1866mhz? Or should I just buy some 1866mhz crucial tactical at cl9? Or even some 1600mhz at cl8?

Am stuck at this point and any advice would be appreciated.

If it won't run to spec, you can try lowereing to 2133 or even 1866 via DOCP or set it manually

So go with the 2400mhz and lower its speed? Would this also lower its latency do you think?
