A couple years back, I rememeber playing Quake 2 in "single player" with the
Weapons of Destruction (WoD) mod. I reinstalled Q2 a couple of days and
ago and went to d/l WoD mod. However, after installing the latest version
(v8.0 I think), I found that it doesn't work in single player. There
wasn't much in the doc except for "online" gaming commands.

Anyone know where an old copy of WoD mod that supports single player can be
found? (I've searched but didn't see anything).
Or is there some special command to enter in the console to get it to work
for single player?

WoD 8 doesn't support single player mode. If you want to play single player
you need a version of WoD 7 or earlier. WoD 7 can be obtained at
www.planetquake.com/wod -- probably the same site where you got WoD 8.

Of course WoD 7 monsters have the same weapons as baseq2 and you have juiced
up WoD weapons, so it isn't very challenging. It was useful for debugging
the weapons code though. :)

I saw the version 7.0 there and figured it wouldn't work since their doc
inside the zip file mainly talked about server settings. I'm fixing to try
it later. Plus, my brother found an older version 6.04 that we use to
play.

thanks again.

All Q2 games can set up a server. Actually when you are playing single
player you start a server.

6.04 is pretty old. It still has a bazooka which shoots in a straight line!

Yep, the 6.08 bazooka with fire grenades is a classic. We ran that same code
all the way through WoD 7 and WoD 8. We tried a lot of grenade types, some
of which turned out to be more fun than others. My favorite types (other
than fire) were vampire and electroshock. I actually liked plague too, but
most ppl didn't. Oh, well.
